This quote is from a book that my sister Lori gave me called "50 Days of Hope." It was one of many items in a goody bag that she gave me before we checked in for my stem cell transplant. It had #FIGHTlikeaFREAK written all over it and was very thoughtful for sure. She's been such a source of support, encouragement, prayer, and love from the day I was diagnosed. We've been through so much together, and I'm so grateful for her. I love her very much.

Of all the items in that bag, the book “50 Days of Hope” has been such a blessing to me. It’s the most relatable thing I’ve found so far for anyone with a cancer diagnosis. It’s real & genuine & encourages those battling cancer & the family members too. Get it or give it. It’s only like $10. The link is above.

As you can see in the picture at the top of this post, Lori left behind moments like this for me in the book. She underlined, left notes, smiley faces, & a lot more throughout the book. Man, I needed this chapter & her note, so bad today.

Like the quote says above, there’s a lot more to “beating cancer” than most understand.

Beating cancer is much more than the physical. It involved the spiritual, mental, financial, relational, & many other aspects of of our lives. It can be stressful, unsettling, hard, depressing, lonely, scary, etc…even when you have a loving family & support system around you. Everyday is a personal choice & battle, and what we believe matters.

I find myself grateful in the midst of it all. Crazy to even say, but it’s true. I don’t always feel grateful, but I seem to find my way there at some point. Even though I have no idea how this will all play out, on a lot of levels. That’s not being negative or lacking faith, it’s just the truth. I do have my mind set on how I want it to play out, and I believe and pray to that end everyday, but ultimately I don’t really know. No one does. The only true outcome I can control is how I think, battle personally, respond, & live day to day.

I want to LIVE!! I want to love & spend time with my amazing wife Donna & our family!! I want to share hope, live as authentically as possible, make things right where I can, build my wedding biz www.hitchandspin.com, volunteer & encourage other multiple myeloma/stem cell transplant patients, share my story with others, and love people! Ultimately, I want to be a light that points people to Jesus, because He’s made such a difference in my life. Truth is, I couldn’t make it through any of this without him. I know He can make a difference in yours too. He is Hope.

That's why we can say that being victorious is more than physical healing. Everything we face in life is an opportunity to become a better version of ourselves.

I you want to help us in our journey & mission you can do that here
